Why We Started Chewy Paws

It started with Sniper.

When I was 18, I finally got what I'd dreamed about since childhood: my first dog. Sniper, a Golden Retriever puppy, became family instantly.

But at just 18 months old, our trainer noticed something wrong. When Sniper ran, his right back foot flared outward. He refused the "down" command—not out of stubbornness, but pain.

The x-rays confirmed our worst fear: hip dysplasia.

The Impossible Choice

We had two options:

Option 1: Surgery. Expensive. Months of recovery where he couldn't walk. Post-op physiotherapy that doesn't even exist in Lebanon.

Option 2: Manage it with supplements and care.

We chose supplements. Sniper was still running and jumping. The idea of him immobile for months was unbearable.

But here's what we discovered: The supplements available in Lebanon weren't working.

Months of Frustration

Every few months, we'd be back at the vet for cortisone injections just so Sniper could feel better.

We tried human grade glucosamine supplements from pharmacies. We tried whatever we could import.

Nothing gave him the relief he needed. Nothing gave us peace of mind.

Then my neighbor mentioned she was importing supplements from the US for her dog. "They work," she said, "but shipping costs more than the supplements themselves."

That's when it hit me: If we're struggling, how many other Lebanese dog owners are too?

Months of Research. Hundreds of Samples. One Mission.

I spent months searching for a manufacturer that met standards I'd trust for my own dog:

Why I Started Chewy Paws

Some businesses start with a market opportunity.
Mine started with Sniper. The Dog I Always Dreamed Of I wanted a dog my entire childhood. At 18, I finally got him. A Golden Retriever puppy I named Sniper. He became family instantly.
